How to Quickly Enter Results for an MTG Tournament

Entering match results for a large tournament can be a time consuming process. Fortunately, Wizard’s Event Reporter (WER) has some shortcuts to make it easier.

Table Number Search Box

Match result slips aren’t returned in any sort of order. You are going to get results from all over your table ranges. You can save a lot of time by using the table number search box instead of trying to scroll to the correct table number.

Steps – Without Hot Keys Enabled

  1. Click in the Table Number box.
  2. Type the Table Number from the match result slip.
  3. Click the drop checkbox next to any player who wishes to drop.1
  4. Click the appropriate results button.

Steps – With Hot Keys Enabled

  1. Click in the Table Number box.
  2. Type the Table Number from the match result slip. Press the Tab key.
  3. Type the number next to the drop box for any player who wishes to drop.1
  4. Type the number next to the appropriate results button.

The Table Number search box will automatically clear and regain focus. You can simply type the table number of the next match result slip and enter those results using the steps above.

Gotcha’s

Watch out for result slips where both players dropped. WER doesn’t always handle this properly and it can prevent you from creating the next round.

Work Around

Record the results of the match, but don’t drop either player. Set the result slip to the side. Create the next round, but don’t create the matches. Switch to the player’s tab and drop both players from this screen.

1 It’s important to click the drop box before clicking the results button. After you click the results button, the table search box will be cleared. You’ll have to retype the table number, click the drop checkbox, and click the enter button to overwrite the results.
